A day in the life of an STFC vacuum technician

Meet James: a vacuum technician at Daresbury Laboratory. Today he is giving a whirlwind tour of his work in VISTA: the Vacuum Interface and Surface Technologies for Accelerators lab.

In the video, James and his colleagues are setting up and conducting plasma experiments. The work James and other vacuum technicians do will change the future of accelerator science and will possibly end up on global science projects.

This piece was originally filmed for our virtual STEM work experience series 2021.
