ISIS Neutron and Muon source Impact Case Study, ChipIr instrument
The ChipIr instrument at ISIS Neutron and Muon Source is used by companies to test their electronics so that they can survive damage by cosmic ray neutrons. These electronics can be those found in driverless cars, aeroplanes or other safety-critical devices.
Beamline scientists Chris Frost and Carlo Cazzaniga feature alongside Paolo Rech from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul to explain how ChipIr is ensuring cosmic rays won't disrupt our self-driving future.
