Making Silver Nitrate from Silver Metal

In this video, we dissolve some silver ingots in nitric acid to make silver nitrate.

I plan to use silver nitrate in a few ways. I want to revisit the water sensitive mixture of magnesium and silver nitrate and I want to make the silver mirror (which I have surprisingly never done).
