Making Methyl Iodide (Red Phosphorus and Iodine Method)

Hey guys, today we make a little bit of methyl iodide (iodomethane) using methanol, red phosphorus and iodine.

I plan to use this in the future to synthesize caffeine. If you guys have any suggestions on how it can be used, let me know!
